Ministering to the Lord
“Ministering to the Lord” is corporate, personal, and focused devotion to God. We are here for Him – to give our full and undistracted attention to the Lord. We use the words of God-centered songs and scriptures to meditate and worship in our hearts.
This particular model of worship grew out of a conviction that there are times in our Christian life where, beyond receiving ministry from the Lord or from each other, we simply need to give back to Him in pure, selfless worship – not asking anything from Him, just being with Him.
In Scripture, several passages help us understand this concept:
- Mary of Bethany (Mark 14:2-9). We come to bring extravagant devotion to touch His heart.
The Shunamite woman (2 Kings 4:8-10). We seek to have a place where Jesus can come and be refreshed as we minister to Him.
The Levites (Deut. 10:8; Lev. 6:13,15). We come in faithful service regardless of emotion. It is a sweet smelling aroma to the Lord.
Noah (Gen. 8:18-22). We may never understand the spiritual repercussion of our devotion to God for a broken and rebellious world.
